All material available from this website is offered legally and is offered with the relevant rights holders permission. Please be aware that there are certain providers who are not licensed to distribute music content and using these services may result in downloading unlicensed and thus illegal downloads with poor quality. Partymob.com advise that customers only use official legal music download sites.

What is a licence? (back to top)

When you first play a track from our site a licence is automatically downloaded to your computer and unlocks the music. You will need to be connected to the internet at this time but it only happens once and takes just a few seconds.

How long will it take to download a track? (back to top)

This all depends on the speed of your Internet connection. A broadband user can usually download in approximately 1 to 2 minutes. For users on a dial-up connection this time will increase to approximately 15 minutes.

Downloading Content

What can I do with the music when I get it? (back to top)

Downloading music offers you lots of options to listen to and enjoy your music. You can store and listen to all of your music on your PC (so long as you have a sound card and perhaps some external stereo speakers). To use your PC to play music, you will need music playing software. We recommend Microsoft Windows Media Player for this, as it generally comes pre-loaded on new PCs, and if not it can be downloaded free of charge from Microsoft's web-site, using the following link,

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/default.aspx.

This will download Windows Media Player 10, which is the latest version of the software, compatible with PCs running Windows XP. If you have an older PC, running Windows ME, 98, NT, or 2000, then use Windows Media Player 9, which can also be downloaded free of charge at the same site. If you are not sure of the operating system of your PC, don't worry, the Microsoft web site will check the operating system and download the correct version for you.

In addition to Windows Media Player, there are a number of other music players that you can install and use on your PC, but check that they do not convert files into their own proprietary formats, as this will limit the types and number of Portable Music Players that you can transfer music to.

You can connect your PC to your home entertainment system and play your music through that. You can burn your music to CDs making album mixes that you want to listen to, and then play them in exactly the same way that you would a CD bought in one of our stores. You can transfer your music to a portable music player and take your music with you wherever you go.

Unfortunately Apple's iPod uses an encoding format that is unique to Apple and the iPod. Therefore the Apple iPod does not directly support transfer of files in WMA format downloaded from this site. However it is possible to download music from Partymob.com and convert the file type to enable these to be played on the iPod.

How do I download a track? (back to top)

  • Register your username and password.
  • Purchase some credits using either SMS or Credit Card
  • Browse the collection of music available on Partymob.com
  • Click ‘buy’ next to the tracks or the albums you wish to purchase.
  • When you have finished browsing click ‘go to checkout’
  • Click ‘download tracks’

Can downloaded music be copied and shared amongst my friends? (back to top)

All content downloaded from this website is copyrighted, and it is a criminal offence to share copyrighted material with other people. You can of course copy this music to other devices or burn it a number of times onto a CD, for your personal use, which is of course perfectly legal. To protect the rights of the original copyright holders, music downloaded from this site is protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management), which automatically downloads a personal licence to you for the track that you have bought. This personal licence, which is linked to the track that you have bought, allows you to play and enjoy your music in the way that you want, but the prevents you from illegally sharing files with others.

Do I need to be connected to the Internet when I play my downloaded music? (back to top)

You only need to be connected to the Internet the first time that you play your music. When you play a track for the first time, your media player uses the Internet to obtain the licence from our service. This licence is then stored on your PC (and often the Media Player automatically backs up these licences), meaning that once the licence has been received you do not need to be on-line to play your music.

How do I find the music I want? (back to top)

You can search by GENRE, ARTIST or TRACK TITLE using the toolbar buttons and search box at the top of the page. Click on the track title or pack shot to see more details about that track. When you've found the track you want, listen to a 30 second sample, stream it or get a permanent download using the buttons beside the track.

Why do I need a Username? (back to top)

Your Username is a unique name on our system that is used with your password to identify you when you return to the shop. Your Username can be your e-mail address or your name.

Do I need an email address? (back to top)

Yes. When registering on Partymob.com you will need to provide a valid e-mail address. This allows us to contact you if you have a query with the site or require to be remained of your password. We will also send you a confirmation email whenever you purchase a credit package (via SMS or Credit Card) this should be kept safe for your records.

Partymob.com will also use your email address to send you email confirmation of each transaction you make on the site. This will detail all the tracks that you download and will act as your receipt for these purchases.

Please read the Partymob.com Privacy Policy for further information.

Problems

What happens if I lose the music I downloaded? (back to top)

If you lose the music you have downloaded you may be able to redownload through your 'My Account' page. Music is available for redownload whilst you have not exceeded the policy information. See the details page of your music for information on how many times you can redownload.

Where is the music downloaded to? (back to top)

Once you have completed the purchase and have clicked on the "click to download" link, your computer should provide you with an option of where you want to save to. Choose an appropriate location and save.

If you are unable to locate the music you have downloaded you can perform a search on your computer using Windows search facility or Windows Media Player. All files will usually be saved with a .WMA extension.

How do I play my music on a portable music player? (back to top)

Our music is encoded in the WMA format. Most portable music players support the WMA Codec to play this format. These players should be compatible with Windows Media Player.

To use your music on Apple's iPod you must first convert the music files into a supported format before transfer.

What should I do if I lose my Internet connection during downloading? (back to top)

If your Internet connection is lost during a download your music can be simply redownload later via your 'My Account' page. If you cannot see your music on this page this could mean your purchase was not completed or you have previously exceeded the policy limits on this track.

What happens if I lose the license? (back to top)

If you try and play the music but you have lost your license (i.e. you have recently rebuilt your PC) your system will connect to the Internet and you will be requested to identify yourself as the license holder (this will be done by inputting your username/e-mail address and password). You will then be supplied with a duplicate license. There is a limit to the number of licenses you will be allowed (this will be set by the label so may be different for each track but it is typically 3).

What happens if my computer crashes? (back to top)

Ok, so you have lost your music and your licenses. Drop us an e-mail with as much detail as possible to Partymob and we will endeavour to help you restore your music and licenses (please note that there are limits to exactly what we can do placed upon us by the record labels and artists who own this music, however, we will try to help).
